In what may come as a relief for people post the demonetisation move, the new Rs 500 notes were issued by the government on Sunday.
The Currency Note Press (CNP), Nashik, has already dispatched new notes of Rs 500 denomination to the Reserve Bank of India.

People have been eagerly waiting for new Rs 500 notes after a bold step of scrapping big value currency notes in order to crack down black money and corruption in India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8 announced scrapping of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes with effect from Tuesday midnight and introduced new notes of Rs 500 and Rs 2,000.
Following the government's decision to scrap the old notes, there has been a huge rush outside the banks since yesterday and also at the ATMs today residents anxious to withdraw some money to meet their daily expenses were seen standing in serpentine queues.
