New Delhi: India's wholesale price index saw a sharp rise in June to 1.62% from last month's 0.79% amid pricier vegetables and a small uptick in manufactured goods.

This kept the inflation level in the positive domain for the third month after 17 months in the negative.

Government data released on Monday had shown consumer inflation at a 22-month high in June because of spike in inflation in food articles.

Wholesale food inflation jumped to 8.18% led by potatoes and pulses which were dearer by 64.48% and 26.61% respectively from a year ago.Vegetable prices were 16.91% higher.

This kept the inflation level in the positive domain for the third month after 17 months in the negative.

Manufactured products were up 0.2 percent, indicating pricing power of India Inc is yet to recover following one-and-a-half years of deflation that ended a few months back.

Significantly, the final wholesale price index for the month of April was also revised to suggest a higher annual inflation rate of 0.79% against 0.34% as reported earlier.
