FASTag Annual Pass: How to get it for a year and key things to keep in mind
For Rs 3,000, users can enjoy up to 200 toll-free trips in a year. Available via the NHAI website and Rajmarg Yatra app, the pass aims to simplify toll payments and offer significant savings for regular commuters.

The Indian government has introduced a new FASTag Annual Pass for travellers, which has been designed to benefit private vehicle owners who often travel on national highways. Announced by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the scheme will go live from August 15 (2025) and promises major savings on toll charges.
The FASTag Annual Pass is a newly introduced initiative by the Indian government to make highway travel more affordable and hassle-free for frequent travellers. Launched by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, this pass allows private vehicle owners to pay a flat fee of Rs 3,000 for the entire year and enjoy up to 200 toll trips on National Highways. Here's a detailed guide on how to get the pass and important things to consider before opting for it.
How to get the FASTag Annual Pass
Getting the FASTag Annual Pass is a simple digital process. Here is how to register for it online:
- Download the Rajmarg Yatra App or visit the NHAI official website.
- Enter your vehicle registration details.
- Make sure your existing FASTag is active, valid, and not blacklisted.
- Pay the flat Rs 3,000 fee online.
- Once the payment is confirmed, your Annual Pass will be linked to your current FASTag.
There is no need to buy a new FASTag — the existing one on your vehicle will be updated with the pass.
What you get with the annual pass
- Up to 200 toll trips or one year of usage, whichever comes first.
- The pass works at all National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) toll plazas.
- After expiry or usage limit, your FASTag returns to regular pay-per-trip mode.
- You can renew the pass by buying a new one anytime.
Things to keep in mind
- The pass is only for private vehicles (cars, jeeps, vans) used for non-commercial purposes.
- It won’t work on state highways or privately managed toll roads.
- Your FASTag must be properly installed on the vehicle's windshield.
- The FASTag must be linked to the vehicle’s registration number (VRN) — not just the chassis number.
- The pass is non-transferable and tied to a specific vehicle and FASTag.
- You’ll receive SMS notifications for activation and trip usage.
What is the FASTag Annual Pass?
This pass allows private car, jeep, or van owners to prepay ₹3,000 for up to 200 toll trips or one year of access — whichever comes first. Once the trip count or duration ends, the FASTag will switch back to regular pay-per-trip mode.
Trip count and validity
Each toll crossing is considered one trip. For two-way travel, it will count as two. At some tolls with entry-exit systems, one complete journey is one trip. The pass is valid until 200 trips are made or one year passes from activation.
Notifications and renewals
Users will receive SMS alerts for pass activation and usage. Once the limit is reached, they can immediately renew and purchase a new pass.
Why buy the annual pass?
The scheme aims to reduce toll expenses and eliminate per-trip payment hassle for regular highway commuters. With potential savings of up to Rs 7000 a year, the FASTag Annual Pass is a cost-effective option for frequent travellers.
