British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Monday defended his decision not to join the US-Israel strikes on Iran over the weekend, saying his Labour Party government did not believe in “regime change from the skies”.

Amid the flight disruptions in the wake of the Israel-Iran conflict from the past few days, the first flight from Abu Dhabi has landed at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru.

An Emirates flight from Dubai to India's Bengaluru departed from Dubai Airport tonight. Dubai Airports confirmed that a limited resumption of operations will begin this evening, with a small number of flights permitted to operate from Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC). Travellers are advised not to proceed to DXB or DWC unless they have been contacted directly by their airline with a confirmed departure time.

IndiGo has planned 10 special relief flights from Jeddah to India on March 3 to evacuate people. IndiGo is coordinating with the Consulate General of India at Jeddah in this regard. The Ministry of Civil Aviation is also closely monitoring the situation. 

Iran’s leadership has appealed for international support and action after a series of air strikes by the United States and Israeli forces allegedly struck civilian infrastructure, including medical and educational facilities. 

US President Donald Trump on Monday justified attacks on Iran, asserting that Tehran was aggressively advancing its ballistic missile program, which posed a threat to the United States. Trump stated that Iran was using its missile program to conceal its nuclear weapons development efforts. He added that an Iranian regime armed with long-range missiles and nuclear weapons would have posed a significant threat to both the Middle East and the United States.

Addressing a press conference on the ongoing conflict with Iran, the General lauded the Operation Epic Fury and said that the operations, despite the loss, will remain active across the globe and asserted confidence in the US military's ability to project power on a global scale.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for "standing with Israel", as tensions continue to rage in the Middle East following Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's death. Though he didn't provide details regarding this conversation, he said people of India are admired in Israel a lot.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spokes with Jordan King Abdullah II and conveyed India's concerns over the situation in the Middle East, where a conflict is underway between the United States (US), Israel and Iran. The prime minister, during the conversation, said India supports peace in the region, while thanking Abdullah II for taking care of the Indian community there.

"Spoke with His Majesty King Abdullah II, the King of Jordan. Conveyed our deep concern at the evolving situation in the region. We reaffirm our support for peace, security and the well-being of the people of Jordan. I thanked him for taking care of the Indian community in Jordan in this difficult hour," posts PM Modi on X. 

Congress' Jalna Lok Sabha MP Kalyan Kale is stranded in Dubai due to airspace closure caused by the Iran war, his brother Jagannath Kale said on Monday. The MP had gone to Dubai with a few friends on Friday, a day before the joint US-Israel attack on Iran, his brother said.

In a nine-minute phone interview Monday morning with CNN, Donald Trump declared that the United States military is “knocking the crap” out of Iran, while cautioning that the most significant action may still lie ahead.

Trump characterized current military operations as aggressive and effective but suggested they represent only the opening phase of a broader strategy.

A powerful explosion has rocked the skyline of Manama after what regional security sources describe as an Iranian missile strike hit a prominent luxury skyscraper reportedly housing senior US military command personnel.

US General Dan Caine revealed during a Monday briefing that Operation Epic Fury targeted over 1,000 locations within its first 24 hours. The campaign saw the deployment of more than 100 aircraft, taking off from both land bases and naval vessels, highlighting the extensive scale of the military operation.

Travel bookings for routes linked to the Middle East are witnessing 20-25 per cent cancellations and rescheduling amid the ongoing military conflict in the region, Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) said on Monday, reflecting rising caution among the country's travellers.

A total of 61 persons from Marathwada in Maharashtra are stranded in Dubai, Bahrain, Qatar and Abu Dhabi due to closure of airspace following the joint US-Israel attack on Iran, an official said on Monday. The 61, who have intimated the administrations of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Nanded, Hingoli, Beed and Latur districts in Marathwada, are tourists, while some have gone to the Gulf for work and others possess resident visas, the official from the Divisional Commissionerate said.

Majed al-⁠Ansari, the spokesperson of Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, has given an interview to CNN about the latest developments in the region. He said Qatar has intercepted Iranian attacks that targeted ⁠civilian infrastructure, ⁠including the international airport in airport. He added that ⁠Qatar was ⁠not ⁠engaging with Iran at the moment.

European markets opened lower early Monday and oil prices were up about 9% as the U.S.-Israel war on Iran rattled markets. The US dollar rose against the Japanese yen and the euro. In Asian trading, shares slipped in Tokyo and most other markets but they rose in Shanghai, where higher oil prices lifted stocks in oil companies. The war in the Middle East is expected to disrupt oil supplies. The futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 were down 1.3% as of 0900 GMT.

About 30,000 German tourists are currently stuck on cruise ships, in hotels or at closed airports in the Middle East and cannot get back home because of the conflict. German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said late Sunday that a military evacuation was currently not possible because of closed airspace. He said the government was looking into other options to help bring its citizens home and that everyone should follow advise by German travel agencies and local authorities. The German Travel Association called on tourists to "remain at their booked hotels as a matter of urgency" and not "make their own way to the airport or to a neighboring country."

So far, 131 counties in the country have been affected by the US-Israeli attacks. Relief operations, led by the Red Crescent’s humanitarian mission, are continuing without interruption, with rescue teams present in the affected areas and more than 100,000 responders on full alert nationwide. At present, a network of about four million volunteers is on standby to deliver humanitarian services, assistance, and psychosocial support.

Amazon’s cloud unit (AWS) says that its data centres in Bahrain and the UAE are experiencing power and connectivity problems, amid Iran’s retaliatory strikes. Two of Amazon cloud unit’s zones, which are clusters of ‌data centres, in the UAE were without power, the company said on its status page. AWS said that one zone in the UAE was affected after “objects” struck the data centre and created sparks and fire, following which power ⁠was shut off. The cloud firm asmed customers to ⁠rely on its services in other ⁠regions, adding that recovery was expected to be “multiple hours away”.

Israel is keeping "all options on the table" for a possible ground operation in Lebanon, according to Israel’s military spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin. He said on Monday that Israel has called up more than 100,000 reservists since the war with Iran began on Saturday.

Hezbollah launched missiles and drones towards Israel overnight, and Israel responded by striking dozens of targets in Beirut and southern Lebanon. "Hezbollah will pay a very heavy price for this," Defrin said.

At least 555 people have been killed in US-Israeli strikes across the country, the Iranian Red Crescent Society has said.

The United States, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates strongly condemn the Islamic Republic of Iran’s indiscriminate and reckless missile and drone attacks against sovereign territories across the region, including Bahrain, Iraq — including the Iraqi Kurdistan Region — Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. These unjustified strikes targeted sovereign territory, endangered civilian populations, and damaged civilian infrastructure.

The Islamic Republic’s actions represent a dangerous escalation that violates the sovereignty of multiple states and threatens regional stability. The targeting of civilians and of countries not engaged in hostilities is reckless and destabilizing behavior.

We stand united in defense of our citizens, sovereignty, and territory, and reaffirm our right to self-defense in the face of these attacks. We remain committed to regional security and commend the effective air and missile defense cooperation that has prevented far greater loss of life and destruction.

Germany will not actively participate in military action against Iran but will consider defending its soldiers stationed on multinational military bases in Jordan and Iraq if they get attacked, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said Monday morning.

"The federal government has no intention of participating" in the conflict, Wadephul told Deutschlandfunk public radio, adding that "we also do not have the necessary military resources."

However, the foreign minister went on to say that it was possible that “our Bundeswehr soldiers would defend themselves if they were attacked."

According to the German Armed Forces, military bases where German soldiers are stationed were targeted following the escalation in the region. On the weekend, attacks were carried out on multinational bases in Irbil in northern Iraq, and Al-Azraq in Jordan. The soldiers on site were not injured and are safe, the German news agency dpa reported.

Saudi defense ministry said it repelled drones that tried to attack Ras Tanoura oil refinery.

British Foreign Minister Cooper says a drone that struck a UK military base on Cyprus hit the runaway. "We are not able to provide further information and detail at this point, but obviously all of the precautionary measures are being taken around the base," Cooper told the Sky News broadcaster.

Kuwait’s Defense Ministry reported that “several” US warplanes have crashed on its territory, confirming that all crew members survived the incidents. 

The US embassy in Bahrain has issued a warning that “terrorist groups and those inspired by such organizations are intent on attacking US citizens abroad.” In its statement, the embassy advised Americans to avoid hotels in Manama, citing the possibility that such locations could be targeted. The embassy further cautioned that “terrorist groups continue plotting possible attacks in Bahrain” and that attacks may occur with little or no warning.

China has confirmed that at least one Chinese citizen has been killed in Tehran, prompting a strong call for an immediate ceasefire and diplomatic engagement to resolve the escalating conflict in the Middle East. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning stressed, “The most urgent task is a cessation of military operations and preventing a spillover of conflict,” while urging all parties to seek “a resolution through dialogue and negotiation.”

Passengers are stranded at Bengaluru Airport as several international flights face disruptions and cancellations amid the situation in the Middle East.

Iran’s Shahed-136 drone struck the Saudi Aramco oil refining facility at Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia’s key energy hub, early Monday, according to several social media posts online. The attack prompted the temporary shutdown of the Ras Tanura refinery, as per a Bloomberg report. The strike triggered a fire at the site, however as per reports blaze was “small and controlled.” There have been no reports of casualties so far. The drone strike on Saudi Arabia’s Ras Tanura refinery comes amid rising Middle East tensions, with recent Iranian missile and drone attacks on Gulf states and Israel following international military airstrikes. Heating oil price surges by over 13%, now at highest price since 2023.

A security source has told Al Jazeera that an Israeli-US missile attack targeted sites belonging to Iran-backed paramilitary group Kataib Hezbollah in Jurf al-Sakhr, south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. Significant material damage was reported, including the burning of vehicles, sites, and warehouses. No casualties have been reported so far.

Israel said crossings to Gaza, where much-needed humanitarian aid passes, will remain closed while the war with Iran continues. COGAT, the Israeli defense body that oversees aid into Gaza and the crossings, said that the crossings could not be operated safely due to the threat of missiles.

Israelis have been instructed to remain close to bomb shelters and places that are not within a certain distance to a bomb shelter are closed.

"The measures taken are temporary and are based solely on a security assessment," COGAT said.

COGAT claimed that Gaza has sufficient stockpiles of food for an "extended period" though some organizations, including the World Central Kitchen which operates soup kitchens across Gaza, have warned that they are running out of supplies.

"We need food deliveries every single day to feed hungry families who are not part of this war," chef Jose Andres, the founder of World Central Kitchen, wrote on X.

Like some other US embassies in the Middle East, the outpost in Kuwait is a large, walled compound consisting of multiple buildings and recreational facilities. It is located near other embassies and residential areas to the south of central Kuwait City. The ruling emir’s Bayan Palace is not far away. In December 1983, a truck packed with explosives heavily damaged parts of the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait when it drove through a gate and detonated. The bombing was part of a series of attacks later blamed on Iranian-backed militant groups.

The president of the EU Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, says she has spoken with the government of Cyprus about the attack on the UK military base at Akrotiri. “While the Republic of Cyprus was not the target, let me be clear: we stand collectively, firmly and unequivocally with our Member States in the face of any threat,” she wrote.

Oil facilities in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia are now reportedly being targeted.

Vantor imagery shows airstrike related damage at Konarak Naval Base, Iran, where at least three surface ships have sunk and numerous buildings are damaged or destroyed.

The Qatari carrier says its flights remain suspended due to the ongoing closure of the country’s airspace. It said it will resume operations as soon Qatari authorities declare a safe reopening of the airspace.

Several loud explosions heard Monday morning in Irbil, the capital city of Iraq’s semiautonomous region of Kurdistan.

As Kuwait faced an ongoing attack, the US issued an urgent warning to Americans there to take cover and remain indoors. It said: "Do not come to the Embassy," without elaborating.

The United Arab Emirates is shutting the country’s main stock exchanges for the start of the trading week as the regional war intensifies. The country’s Capital Market Authority said the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and Dubai Financial Market would be closed Monday and Tuesday. It says it will closely monitor the regional situation and take any further steps as necessary. Another market, the Nasdaq Dubai, also said it was halting trading both days.

Dubai is the Gulf’s main business hub, though the Emirati capital Abu Dhabi is also an important regional financial center and home to some of the world’s biggest sovereign wealth funds. The benchmark index for the Saudi Exchange, the region’s largest stock market, fell 2.2 percent on Sunday.

Strikes across Iran continued into Monday, with one apparently taking Iranian state television off air. Witnesses said an attack in northern Tehran’s Niavaran neighborhood struck one of the transmitters used for Iranian state TV. Since then, its satellite signals have dropped. State media had said hospitals and residential areas had been hit in strikes by the Americans and Israelis. Iran has not offered any details on its materiel losses.

Lebanon’s government is holding an emergency meeting after Hezbollah’s attack on Israel triggered Israeli airstrikes in different parts of the country. The meeting started Monday morning and is being attended by the army chief, Gen. Rudolph Haikal. The state-run National News Agency reported that the Cabinet will discuss the volatile situation and the measures it plans to take.

The US embassy in Kuwait says there is a "continuing threat of missile and UAV attacks" over the country. "The US Embassy in Kuwait urges US citizens in Kuwait to shelter in place, review security plans in the event of an attack, and to stay alert in case of additional future attacks," it said in a statement. Embassy personnel are sheltering in place, it added.

The Israeli army’s chief of staff, Eyal Zamir, made the announcement in a meeting after Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel, according to the country’s military. "We have launched an offensive campaign against Hezbollah," he was quoted as saying. This comes as Lebanese authorities said that Israeli air attacks on the country have so far killed at least 31 people and wounded 149 others.

The Iranian Fars news agency says at least two people have been killed in an “enemy attack” on the central city of Sanandaj. It said the city was targeted by enemy missiles and that several residential buildings next to the city’s police station were destroyed. The Tasnim news agency said US and Israeli forces dropped six missiles on different parts of the city, including densely populated neighbourhoods. Footage posted online and verified by Al Jazeera shows the moment  of one attack, with fire and huge clouds of smoke in the sky.

We have some comments from Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides on the attack earlier on the attack Britain’s RAF Akrotiri base on the island. He said the overnight attack was caused ⁠by an unmanned Shahed drone which caused ⁠minor material damage. “I want to ‌be clear: Our country does not participate in any way and does not intend to be part ⁠of any military ⁠operation,” Christodoulides said in a statement, adding he was ‌in constant contact with European leaders and ‌others over ‌developments.

The official Kuwait News Agency says some debris has fallen in the Mina Al Ahmadi refinery near Kuwait City, causing "minor injuries to two workers". The report comes amid new Iranian attacks on US assets in the Gulf, with air raid sirens reported in Kuwait and Bahrain, and bangs heard over the Qatari capital, Doha, and Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi.

Smoke was seen rising from near the US embassy in Kuwait. This comes after rounds of air raid sirens were heard in the Gulf country in recent hours.

Videos, verified by Al Jazeera, shows the aftermath of an attack on the central Iranian city of Kermanshah. The footage shows huge clouds of smoke billowing behind buildings near the Karmanshah International Airport.

Israeli strikes killed 31 people in Lebanon, including senior members of Hezbollah.

The US embassy in Kuwait has ordered all citizens to shelter in place due to the threat of Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks.

There are reports that explosions have been heard in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Some half a dozen bangs were also heard in Doha, the capital of neighbouring Qatar.

Ali Larijani, the secretary of Iran’s National Security Council, said in a post on X that Trump has plunged the Middle East into chaos with his “delusional fantasies and now fears more American casualties”. "He turned his self-made ‘America First’ slogan into ‘Israel First’ and sacrificed American soldiers for Israel’s power-hungry ambitions," Larijani said. It is American soldiers and their families who will pay the cost, he said, adding that Iran will continue to defend itself.

The Israeli military said it has begun "striking additional targets" of the Hezbollah armed group, including weapons warehouses, in several areas of Lebanon.

Sirens have been sounded over Bahrain, according to the country’s Ministry of Interior, which urged residents to "remain calm and head to the nearest safe place" in a post on X.

The IDF identified that a short while ago, missiles were launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel. Defense systems are operating to intercept the threat. In the last few minutes, the Home Front Command issued a preliminary directive directly to mobile phones in the relevant areas. The public is requested to exercise responsibility and act in accordance with the guidelines - they save lives. One must enter protected spaces upon receiving the alert and remain in them until a new announcement. Exit from the protected space will be permitted only after receiving an explicit directive; continue to act in accordance with the Home Front Command's guidelines.

Another round of air raid sirens in Kuwait. This marks at least the third time the alarms have blared in the country in recent hours. Kuwaiti authorities reported earlier that the country's air defences successfully intercepted a "majority" of drones that have approached the capital today.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, are planning to hold a press conference Monday morning about the military operation against Iran. The Pentagon announced the 8 am EST media briefing on social media Sunday night. On Tuesday, Hegseth and Caine will join US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and CIA Director John Ratcliffe in briefing the full membership of Congress on the strikes, the White House said. Rubio also was slated to brief Hill leadership Monday.

Directly or indirectly, Iran has attacked 15 different countries or their militaries: Israel, United States, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq, Bahrain, Oman, Syria, Cyprus, France (Camp de la Paix, UAE), Italy (NATO camp at Ali al-Salem Base), GB, United Kingdom (Akrotiri in Cyprus).

Iran claims to have killed 560 US soldiers in retaliatory strikes so far. An Iranian commander made this claim in a video. The Iranian commander stated:

• The US base in Kuwait has been completely neutralized.
• A US base in Bahrain suffered heavy damage in a drone attack.
• The US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln was attacked with four missiles.
• More than 560 US soldiers have been killed or injured so far.

An Iranian missile has reached an office connected to the Pentagon, reportedly in Bahrain. Following the Iranian missile attack, the entire building caught fire.

Iran's security chief Ali Larijani, who was also an adviser to the country's former Supreme Leader, said in a post on X on Monday that Tehran will not negotiate with the US, in response to a report that Iran is trying to revive negotiations with Washington.

World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Monday said the agency was working to verify reports that Tehran's Gandhi Hospital was damaged during bombardment of the Iranian capital, calling the claims "extremely worrying." In a post on X, Tedros stressed that health facilities are protected under international humanitarian law and urged all parties to ensure medical sites are not drawn into the conflict, warning the incident underscored the need to safeguard healthcare infrastructure.

Cyprus' government spokesperson said an "incident" that happened at a British air base on the island nation’s southern coastline involved an "unmanned drone which caused limited damage." Spokesperson Constantinos Letymbiotis said the incident at RAF Akrotiri occurred shortly after midnight Monday.

He said "information received through various channels" indicated a drone strike. He didn't specify what kind of drone, where it was launched from or the extent of damage. The suspected drone strike occurred after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the UK would help the US in the war against Iran.

US Donald Trump said potential candidates to lead Iran have all been killed. 

An Iraqi Shiite militia claimed a drone attack Monday targeting US troops at the airport in Iraq's capital, Baghdad, further widening the retaliation over the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The group, Saraya Awliya al-Dam, is one of a group of Shiite militias operating in Iraq following the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of the country that toppled Saddam Hussein.

The US and Iraq did not immediately comment on the claim. The attack comes as Iranian-supported militias, including the Lebanese group Hezbollah, have entered the war started by the US and Israel in an airstrike campaign targeting Iran’s theocracy.

The Israeli military urged people in nearly 50 villages in eastern and southern Lebanon to evacuate ahead of possible retaliatory strikes after Hezbollah fired into Israel. The Hezbollah attack came in response to the US-Israeli airstrike campaign that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The Israeli military urged civilians to evacuate their homes and move at least 1,000 meters away from villages to open areas.

Bahrain's miliary said it has intercepted 61 Iranian missiles and 34 drones since Iran started attacking the country following US-Israeli strikes on Tehran over the weekend.

Bahrain hosts the US 5th fleet and was hit by Iran as part of its response to the ongoing US-Israeli strikes. The Bahraini miliary said the Iranian missiles and drones targeted civilian facilities and private properties in attacks constituting a "flagrant violation of the principles of international and humanitarian law."

"These indiscriminate and heinous attacks represent a direct threat to regional safety and security," it said.

Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, the Israeli military’s chief of staff, said Monday that the military's strikes on Lebanon would be both offensive and defensive, accusing Hezbollah of initiating hostilities and vowing that "any enemy that threatens our security will pay a heavy price."

The US and Israeli attacks on Iran have sent a chill through world markets, with US futures falling more than 1%. Shares opened sharply lower in Tokyo early Monday and oil prices soared. Japan's Nikkei 225 index lost 2.3% shortly after the open and shares also fell in Australia. Traders were betting the supply of oil from Iran and elsewhere in the Middle East would slow or grind to a halt. Attacks throughout the region, including on two vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf, are disrupting the region’s ability to export oil. Prolonged attacks would likely result in higher prices for crude oil and gasoline.

Hossein Kermanpour, the head of public relations at Iran’s ministry of health, says the Israeli attack on the girl’s school in Minab on Sunday left "about 180 young children" dead. He added that the "same type" of missile was used to attack the Gandhi Hospital in Tehran hours ago.

Israel's military has said it has launched another wave of attacks on Iran. "The Air Force, guided by military intelligence, has now launched another wave of strikes toward targets of the Iranian terror regime in the heart of Tehran," it said in a post on X.

Israel has said it is striking Hezbollah "throughout Lebanon" in response to a barrage fired by the group. In a statement, it said the military will not allow Hezbollah to "pose a threat to the State of Israel or harm residents of the north". It vowed to respond "forcefully to this attack".

The Kuwaiti Army says its air defences have "confronted and intercepted" a "number of hostile aerial targets at dawn today" in the central parts of the country.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has strongly condemned Iranian missile attacks targeting both the UAE and the "sisterly" Sultanate of Oman, calling them a "dangerous escalation" and announcing the immediate closure of its embassy in Tehran along with the withdrawal of its ambassador and diplomatic staff.

In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Iranian attacks represented a "blatant violation of state sovereignty" and posed a direct threat to regional security and stability. 

The Ministry said that broadening the scope of the attacks to include "sisterly and friendly nations" was unacceptable. "Expanding the scope of these attacks to include sisterly and friendly nations is unacceptable and condemned by all legal and political standards, and constitutes an unacceptable escalation that undermines de-escalation efforts and exacerbates regional tensions," it said.

Beirut were jolted awake by a series of loud explosions that shook buildings and caused windows to shatter, while war planes could be heard low overhead as Israel launched a series of strikes in retaliation for missiles fired across the border by the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. Lebanese government officials had urged Hezbollah not to enter the fray in support of Iran, fearing another damaging war.

Bahrain's Interior Ministry has said that one person was killed in a fire that broke out after a missile was successfully intercepted by its air defence system. The blaze took place in Salman Industrial City. Bahrain was among the Gulf nations that have faced Iranian missiles since Tehran began its retaliatory campaign against Israel and the US for a military operation that killed Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several others.

The three US service members killed in the operation targeting Iran were Army soldiers who were deployed to Kuwait as part of a unit that oversees supplies and logistics, according to a person familiar with the situation.
The person was not authorized to comment publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity. The development was reported earlier by NBC News and The Washington Post.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it intercepted one rocket launched from Lebanon towards northern Israel earlier tonight. Several other rockets were allowed to land in open areas in line with military protocol, which prioritises interception only where populated areas are at risk. The IDF confirmed there were no reports of injuries or damage.

Air raid sirens have continued to sound in communities near the Lebanese border, warning residents of suspected drone incursions as well as further incoming rocket fire.

It is not immediately clear who is responsible for the launches, but Hebrew media reports that Hezbollah is behind the rocket fire, although the terror group has not confirmed this.

It would be the first time that Hezbollah has joined Iran in its attacks on Israel, as it did not get involved during the previous Israel-Iran war in June.

It would also mark the first time that the terror group has fired at Israel since the US-brokered Israel-Lebanon ceasefire came into effect in November 2024.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote in a letter to the United Nations on Sunday that the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei "constitutes a grave and unprecedented breach of the most fundamental norms governing relations among States." He once again called on the world body and the Security Council to take measures to ensure accountability from the US and Israel for their role in the killing.

"Such conduct does not merely violate established principles of international law; it recklessly opens a dangerous Pandora's box, eroding the bedrock of sovereign equality and the stability of the international system," he added.

Israel banned public gatherings, closed schools and workplaces, and moved hospital patients to underground facilities as Tehran launched missiles toward the country in retaliation for a joint US-Israeli attack on Iran 

Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he granted a US request to allow it to use British military bases to strike Iranian missile sites but said the UL will not join any offensive action in Iran. "We all remember the mistakes of Iraq and we have learned those lessons," Starmer said.

He said Iran had struck airports and hotels where British citizens were and had created a dangerous situation for its 200,000 citizens in the region.

No American ships have been hit since the US-Israeli strikes began, according to Capt. Tim Hawkins, spokesman of US Central Command.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the Islamic Republic had spent "two decades" studying U.S. military operations in the region and have since “incorporated lessons accordingly." "Bombings in our capital have no impact on our ability to conduct war," Araghchi said on X. "Decentralized Mosaic Defense enables us to decide when—and how—war will end."

Speaking in a video message, Donald Trump said the United States would “avenge” the deaths of the service members and warned that “there will likely be more” casualties before the conflict ends.

The president made the remarks in a roughly six-minute video posted on social media on Sunday afternoon.

He described the three service members as “true American patriots who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, even as we continue the righteous mission for which they gave their lives.”

He added, “Sadly, there will likely be more before it ends. That’s the way it is. Likely be more.”

Britain, France and Germany have said they are ready to work with the United States and regional partners to help stop Iran’s retaliatory attacks. In a joint statement on Sunday, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said they were “appalled” by what they described as Iran’s “reckless” strikes on their allies, warning that the attacks threaten their service members and citizens in the region.

“We will take steps to defend our interests and those of our allies in the region, potentially through enabling necessary and proportionate defensive action to destroy Iran’s capability to fire missiles and drones at their source. We have agreed to work together with the US and allies in the region on this matter,” the statement said.

The joint statement did not provide further details.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a post on X that he had a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the current regional situation.

Modi conveyed India’s concerns over recent developments and emphasised that the safety of civilians must remain a priority. He reiterated India’s call for an early cessation of hostilities.

The Embassy of India in Doha said in a post on X that, in view of the prevailing security situation, regular consular services will remain closed on March 2, 2026.

The advisory is applicable to all Indian nationals residing in Qatar.

However, the embassy clarified that officials will remain available for emergency services related to consular matters, including passports, visas and attestation, as well as labour-related issues.

In an unprecedented development, Iran has unfurled a red flag over an iconic Shi'ite mosque - Jamkaran Mosque in the city of Qom.
