Dharmendra health highlights: Actor discharged from hospital, Deol family requests for privacy

Ar ardent Dharmendra fan was seen breaking down, singing songs and praying for the actor's speedy recovery. "I can't hold back my tears. I have not been able to eat ever since I came to know about him (his health). I am praying for his speedy recovery...I have seen several of his films...", he told ANI.

Film producer-director Guddu Dhanoa was clicked leaving Dharmendra's house after meeting actor. He told the media, "All I can say is that he is fine. His condition is improving."

Deol family's official statement read, "Mr Dharmendra has been discharged from the hospital and will continue his recovery at home. We kindly request the media and the public to refrain from any further speculation and to respect his and the family’s privacy during this time. We appreciate everyone’s love, prayers, and good wishes for his continued recovery, good health, and long life. Please respect him because he loves you."

Dharmendra will now be treated at home as he was discharged on November 12, 2025. Dr Pratit Samdani will shortly give an update on the veteran actor's health outside Breach Candy Hospital.

Veteran actor Dharmendra is currently undergoing treatment at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital. He was moved to the intensive care unit (ICU) for closer medical supervision. Later, Sunny Deol, Esha Deol, and Hema Malini shared a health update, stating that the actor is stable. Esha Deol's official statement reads, "My father is stable & recovering."

When a pap from Viral Bhayani's team asked Hina Khan about Dharmendra's health, she replied, "What about Dharmendra ji? He’s fit, healthy, and perfectly alright." For the unversed, Hina Khan was spotted with her husband, Rocky Jaiswal, as they arrived to watch Shehnaaz Gill’s film Ikk Kudi.

Veteran actor Prem Chopra, who was hospitalised on Monday night for routine check-ups, was concerned about Dharmendra's health. In a conversation with ETimes, Prem Chopra's son-in-law, Vikas Bhalla, revealed that Chopra was worried after hearing about Dharmendra’s condition. He said, “When I visited him this morning, he was perfectly fine and in good spirits, but of course, he was concerned about Dharmendra ji's health."

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan was spotted at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital with his girlfriend, Gauri Spratt, paying a visit to veteran actor Dharmendra.

In an old interview with Rediff, Dharmendra once reacted to his moniker, He-Man. He had said, “I am very romantic. I romance with life. There is a misconception that He-Man is always strong and cannot be romantic. When a He-Man romances, nobody can do better than him.”

Dharmendra was last seen in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani in 2023. Next, he will be seen in Ikkis, which also stars his Sholay co-star Amitabh Bachchan's grandson, Agastya Nanda.

Dharmendra married Prakash Kaur when he was just 19. At that time, he hadn't yet become an actor. Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur had four children: Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta Deol and Ajita Deol. Sunny Deol, at the Jaat press conference in Delhi in April, had shared his father's health update. Addressing the media, he said, "Papa ekdum theek hain, cataract ka operation tha, chhota sa tha, aisa kuch nahi (Dad is absolutely fine. He had a small cataract surgery. Nothing to worry about)." 

Earlier this year, the 89-year-old actor underwent surgery on his eye. When paps noticed his bandaged eye, they asked for his health update out of concern. Dharmendra had then told them, "I am strong. Abhi bhi Dharmendra mein bahut dum hai. Abhi bhi jaan rakhta hoon. Meri aankh, eye graft (corneal transplantation) ho gayi hai. I am strong. (Dharmendra still has a lot of strength. I still have the spirit. My eye has undergone an eye graft, I am strong.)" He even added, "Love you, my audience and my fans".

Dharmendra is quite active on social media. On September 26, he took to Instagram to share a beautiful thought on life. He wrote, "Aajkal gham e Dauran se door gham e duniya se door……..apne hi nashe mein jhomta hoon."

Fans across the country have been sending prayers and messages of support, hoping for their beloved He-Man's speedy recovery.

Esha Deol shared Dharmendra's health update. She urged all not to jump to speculations about her father's health. Taking to Instagram, she penned, "The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to give our family privacy. Thank you for the prayers for papa’s speedy recovery. — Esha Deol (sic)." She turned off the comment section of her post.

Hema Malini, wife of Dharmendra, issued a statement on the actor's health. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the actor-politician wrote, "What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and is recovering? This is being extremely disrespectful and  irresponsible. Please give due respect to the family and its need for privacy (sic)."

The veteran actor was shifted to intensive care unit on the morning of November 10 for closer medical supervision.

Dharmendra was reportedly admitted to the hospital last week due to ailment. His family had assured fans that there was no reason to worry.
