India’s Manushi Chillar on Saturday ended the dry spell in India after winning the coveted Miss World 2017 crown at a grand event in China. Last, Priyanka Chopra bagged the title in 2000. The 20-year-old beauty is a medical student from Haryana, who edged out of top five contestants from England, Franch, Kenya and Mexico at the pageant. When Chillar was crowned with the Miss World 2017 crown, we were thrown back in nostalgia to when Aishwarya Rai earned the title in 1994. Let’s have a look at the winning question which earned this ethereal beauty the crown of Miss World 1994.
We’re talking about Miss World 1994 pageant. Where the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai swept the audience off their feet with her charismatic personality and a billion dollar smile (million is a small quantity for a smile like that!). As soon as the contest started, her poise and charm made her camera favourite. Apart from bagging the Miss World title, she won several other titles like Miss Photogenic and Miss World Continental Queen of Beauty − Asia and Oceania.
While going through Aish’s Miss World Pageant in 1994, we came across a video showing Aishwarya Rai introducing herself. Have a look.
But do you know what the final question was, answer to which earned her the honour of being Miss World 1994? Here it is.
Question: What qualities should Miss World 1994 should embody?
Her answer was, “The Miss World's that we have had till date, have been proof enough that they have had compassion, compassion for the under privileged, not only for the people for who have status and stature, who can look beyond the barriers that man has set up for ourselves of nationality, colour. We have to look beyond that and that will make a true Miss World, a true person, a real person. Thank you!”.
With this final question, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made India proud and placed our country on International map. From 1994 to 2017, after 23 years, our love for this mesmerising beauty and a beautiful soul is far from over.
On the work front, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is all set to appear on silverscreen with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Fanney Khan, which also stars Rajkummar Rao and Anil Kapoor in pivotal roles.
