The Supreme Court on Wednesday will have a crucial hearing on Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute in Ayodhya to decide whether the politically sensitive case can be adjudicated through mediation.
The Supreme Court on Friday decided to hear a fresh plea challenging the constitutional validity of a 1993 central law by which the government acquired 67.703 acres of land, including the disputed premises of Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid, in Ayodhya
When the matter was last taken up on January 4, there was no indication that the case would be referred to a constitution bench as the apex court had simply said that further orders in the matter would be passed on January 10 by "the appropriate bench, as may be constituted".
As many as 14 appeals have been filed in the apex court against the 2010 Allahabad High Court judgement, delivered in four civil suits, that the 2.77-acre land be partitioned equally among three parties.
"Further orders will be passed by an appropriate bench on January 10 for fixing the date for hearing the matter," a bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice S K Kaul said.
The BJP is of the view that the Supreme Court should hear the Ram temple land dispute case on a daily basis to deliver an early judgement, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said.
The event which was organised at the 'Bade Bhakt Mal ki Baghia', around 300 kilometres from the Ram Janmbhoomi Nyas workshop saw over three lakh people in attendance.
As per the plan, the temple, once built, will be 268 ft long, 140 ft wide and 128 ft high, from the ground to the apex point (shikhar) and a total of 212 pillars will be used.
CM Adityanath told the public rally that the public determination to build the temple will make the task easier, adding that the issue of construction work will be taken up after Diwali.
Justice S Abdul Nazeer, however, said whether a mosque is integral to Islam has to be decided considering belief and requires detailed consideration.

A three-judge bench of the Allahabad High Court, in a 2:1 majority ruling, had in 2010 ordered that the land be partitioned equally among three parties - the Sunni Waqf Board, the Nirmohi Akhara and Ram Lalla.

In the interview, Nadvi even said that he was not allowed to speak in AIMPB working committee meeting held in Hyderabad.
AIMPLB spokesperson Maulana Khalilurrehman Sajjad Nomani today said that the annual general meeting of the board will be held in Hyderabad on February 10 and 11.
