New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Sunday strongly denounced charges against it over recent incidents including lynching of a 50-year-old Muslim man in Dadri.

The Sangh, while distancing itself from the controversial statements made by several BJP leaders in recent time, said that it is unnecessarily being put in the dock as part of a conspiracy.

RSS general secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi said that the organization has always condemned such incidents because such incidents are not good for the society.

"In the last few days some forces are trying to put Sangh in the dock by linking it with different incidents. We believe that the Sangh is unnecessarily being put in the dock as part of a conspiracy. We have always condemned such incidents because such incidents are not good for the society," he said.

On BJP leaders' controversial remarks, he said that individual functionaries are responsible for what they say in public.

"Responsible people should know what they speak. Also, they must honour Hindu values while speaking," he said.

Bhaiyyaji further said that it is a matter of concern if the Hindu society is blamed for disrupting peace and harmony.

"I understand that this is an insult to the Hindu society and there is a necessity to correct it with a proper understanding of the Sangh's constructive works in the society. The Sangh has always made forward strides together with all," he said.

The RSS is at the centre of criticism from last few weeks with several leaders blaming it for the killing of Kannada scholar MM Kalburgi and a Muslim man in Dadri over beef rumours.

On RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's remark to review the reservation policy, Bhaiyyaji said, "Reservation can continue as long as it is needed in society. That's our stand."

Bhagwat sparked controversy when he, few weeks ago, asked if it was time to review reservations.
