Hyderabad, Aug 12: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi invoked Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder N.T. Rama Rao to woo the party for his efforts to form non-Congress government at the centre.

Flagging of Bharatiya Janata Party's poll campaign with a massive public meeting here Sunday, Modi said TDP, which claims legacy of NTR, has the responsibility to fulfil his dream.

"NTR not only worked for the self-respect of Andhra but also served the nation by strengthening anti-Congress politics. His efforts made a non-Congress government possible at the centre," said Modi, who is chairman of BJP's campaign committee.

"I want to tell the parties, which claim NTR's legacy that the best tribute to him will be to free this country from Congress. It is their duty to fulfil his dream," he added.

He hoped that both Telangana and Seemandhra would leave no stone unturned in realizing the dream of NTR.

TDP, which extended outside support to BJP-led NDA government from 1999 to 2004, snapped its ties with the BJP after defeat in 2004 elections.

In an attempt to woo AIADMK, Modi also praised Jayalalitha government in Tamil Nadu for its schemes. Targeting the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh for doing nothing for skill development, he advised it to learn from Tamil Nadu.

"If you hate Gujarat don't take anything from it but at least learn from your neighbour Tamil Nadu, which is implementing schemes for improving the skills of youth to provide them jobs," Modi said.
