New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) today asked its MPs not to make provocative statements as it deflects from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's developmental agenda.

Speaking to media after BJP parliamentary party meet, Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, said, that issues related to political debates on 'intolerance' issue was the main agenda of meet.

"Venkaiah Naidu ji said we should be careful with words and should steer clear from controversies. Besides, the outcome of recently concluded state polls were also discussed in the meet, he said.

On GST Bill, he said, "Arun Jaitley ji said GDP growth rate is a very positive & welcome the latest development."

After Prime Minister's meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi and former PM Manmohan Singh, the government is expecting that it will be able to pass the GST with consensus and not just a majority.

Meanwhile, the debate on intolerance will continue to take place in the Lok Sabha today.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is expected to speak on the issue post lunch in the Lok Sabha.

There are also reports that the Prime Minister may intervene into the matter in the Rajya Sabha.
