A petition was submitted before the Andhra Pradesh High court to remove the infalmmatory videos from YouTube, but the court struck it down while upholding freedom of speech.
Since then, more than 10 videos of the speech have cumulatively been viewed more than a million times, which, in statistical terms, is a milestone for such a video. Even videos related to the demolition of the Babri Masjid haven't been viewed so many times, says the DC report.
The police, however, is hoping that the videos on YouTube don't act as a catalyst to worsen the already volatile situation in the city.
Anurag Sharma, the police commissioner, said, “Police has tried to remove the objectionable content from YouTube unsuccessfully. However, since police has taken action against him and the case is being considered by the judiciary, we hope it won't incite communal tension any further.”
