Top high-profile players to go unsold at WPL 2026 auction feat. Healy, Alana King

As many as 67 players found a home at the WPL 2026 mega auction, while a few big names weren't looked at as the five teams assembled their squads for a period of two years. Here's a look at a few prominent players, who went unsold at the auction on Thursday in New Delhi-

Six-time T20 World Cup winner and one of the greats of the game, veteran wicketkeeper-batter and opener Alyssa Healy didn’t find takers at the WPL 2026 auction. Healy’s injuries and teams wanting overseas batters who could bowl meant that the 36-year-old didn’t see much interest despite it being a mega auction. Healy led the UP Warriorz in the first couple of seasons after being bought for INR 70 Lakh.

Alana King, one of the top leg-spinners in the world at the moment, had a sensational World Cup for Australia. Not only she made the difference with the ball, having a seven-for against her name, she also scored a half-century batting at No 10, showing her value in both departments. After being roped in as a replacement player last year, it was expected that she would go for a big sum but shockingly, the leggie didn’t find a single bidder.

Former England captain Heather Knight was returning from her injury into the World Cup last month and she showed why she is still a crucial player for England with both bat and ball and can also lend the leadership support to any side. However, the RCB, her former team, picked the likes of Georgia Voll and Grace Harris with the same skill set to fill the gaps at the top of the order, with veteran being passed.

Alice Capsey, despite being a multi-utility cricketer and a proven performer in the WPL, got ignored even though she had a decent World Cup playing at No 7 for England. Capsey is also doing well in the ongoing WBBL for the Melbourne Renegades and was a bit of surprise that no one looked at her in terms of even a backup option.
