Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was the latest high-profile name to be added to list of players not part of the IPL 2026 auction for a variety of reasons. While a couple of them have announced retirement from the IPL, a few have kept things open-ended. Take a look at the full list-

Glenn Maxwell won't be part of the IPL 2026 auction. Maxwell, who was part of the Punjab Kings' squad last year, didn't play the full season due to an injury and was released by the franchise. The 37-year-old had meagre returns in the tournament in the last couple of years and even though he was expected to be bid by a few teams, the Australian has decided to skip the tournament in 2026.

Faf du Plessis, the 41-year-old, like Maxwell, had a injury-ridden season in IPL 2025. Du Plessis was bought by the Delhi Capitals at his base price and scored just 205 runs in the whole season in nine innings, before being released. Du Plessis will be playing in the PSL and hence, didn't register for IPL 2026 auction.

Andre Russell was a big shocker as the burly West Indian decided to pull the plug on his IPL career to take up a coaching role with the Kolkata Knight Riders. Russell, who still has a lot to offer, will keep playing in the other leagues, but was released by KKR after a disappointing IPL season in 2025.

R Ashwin was the first one to announce his IPL retirement after the 2025 edition. Ashwin, who returned to his home city based franchise, Chennai Super Kings, didn't have the most auspicious of homecomings and his price of INR 9.75 crore was also a bit much for the returns he came up with.
