Cairo, Jul 2:The Libyan prosecutor leading the case against slain dictator Moammar Gadhafi's son said Monday that two International Criminal Court staffers detained in the country for 26 days will be released.

Ahmed al-Jehani, who also represents Tripoli's interests at the ICC in The Hague, said two other court staffers who were part of the four-person mission will also leave Libya Monday.

Libyan authorities say they placed ICC defense lawyer Melinda Taylor and her Lebanese translator under house arrest after they visited Seif al-Islam Gadhafi in prison in the town of Zintan and allegedly shared documents that could harm the country's national security.

In the past, the ICC has said that all four staffers were detained.

Spokesman Fadi El Abdallah said that court President Sang-Hyun Song had arrived in Libya, but he did not know whether the president was in Tripoli or Zintan. El Abdallah said everything appeared to be going according to plan.

“We have not been informed of any delays,” he said.

Gadhafi's son is charged with crimes against humanity, including murder, for his alleged role in last year's brutal crackdown on protesters demonstrating for an end to his father's four-decade dictatorship.

Libyan authorities say they want to put Seif al-Islam on trial in Libya and have challenged the ICC's right to try him. The ICC is a tribunal of last resort, intended to try suspects from countries that cannot or will not prosecute them.

The ICC judges ruled on June 1 that Libya doesn't have to hand over Seif al-Islam, pending a ruling on Tripoli's challenge.
