Those who paid hefty sums in advance were provided accommodation at various locations and also coaching based on the leaked question paper and key.

“These students secured ranks ranging from 2 to 25 in the medical PG entrance exam. Under the management quota these seats are usually sold at Rs 75 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore,” the ADG added.

The charge sheet cites 1,421 documents, nine registers and incriminating evidence such as CCTV footage showing the theft of question paper from the Manipal Printing Press, call data records, laptops, cell phones containing photograph of the leaked question paper, cheques, bank cards and Rs 19 lakh cash submitted along with the charge sheet.

The involvement of the management of the printing press and the higher authorities of Dr NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) continues to be under probe. The CID had earlier submitted a report to the AP Governor ESL Narasimhan on its findings.

On April 2, the Governor had cancelled the scam-ridden PG medical entrance test conducted by the NTRUHS.  Around 15,000 students had appeared for the exam for the 2,240-odd seats.

However, hundreds of students had complained that some candidates had secured top ranks though they had failed in some subjects in graduation, besides some others performed poorly in PG entrance exams in other states.
