Gangster Anmol Bishnoi, a key accused in the Baba Siddique murder case, has been arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) after his extradition from the US and landing at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. NIA teams had previously conducted thorough security checks at Terminal 3, and formalities of Bishnoi's were completed on the airport itself upon his flight's arrival.
NIA arrests Anmol Bishnoi after deportation from US
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) said it arrested Anmol Bishnoi after his deportation from the US to India. Absconding since 2022, US-based Anmol Bishnoi is the 19th accused to be arrested for his involvement in the terror-syndicate led by his jailed brother, Lawrence Bishnoi. Anmol was chargesheeted by the NIA in March 2023 after investigations in the case established that he had actively aided designated individual terrorist Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi in the commission of various acts of terrorism in the country during the 2020-2023 period.
Operating closely with various Bishnoi gang associates, Anmol continued to run terror syndicates and execute terrorist acts from the US for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, using its operatives on the ground. Investigations revealed that Anmol Bishnoi had provided shelter and logistic support to the gang’s shooters and ground operatives. He was also engaged in extortion in India from foreign soil with the help of other gangsters.
Security tightened at Delhi’s IGI airport
Moreover, security was tightened at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Wednesday ahead of his arrival at the airport.
Anmol Bishnoi is the younger brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and is wanted in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique in October last year.
Ramesh Bishnoi urges Centre to ensure safety of Anmol
Meanwhile, Anmol Bishnoi's cousin, Ramesh Bishnoi, has urged the Central government to ensure the safety of the latter, who will soon reach India after being extradited from the United States.
Speaking to ANI, Ramesh Bishnoi claimed that Anmol is only being punished for being the brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and expressed faith in the investigative agencies, saying that the family's main priority is to ensure the safety of their relative.
"The law will take its course. Our family respects the law and we are law-abiding people, but today our main concern is that if he (Anmol Bishnoi) is being brought to India, the Indian government should ensure his safety. This will be our demand," Bishnoi told ANI.

The Mumbai police had sent two proposals about his extradition, officials said, adding that there are multiple cases registered against the gangster across the country, and the Union government will decide to which agency his custody should be given first.
This was a multi-agency operation and after being brought to India, the Mumbai police will also seek his custody in their cases.
Earlier this month, investigating agencies had got information that Bishnoi, who kept moving between the United States and Canada, had been detained in Canada. He was reportedly carrying a Russian Passport, procured on the basis of a forged document, the official said.
Anmol Bishnoi was detained in US last year
Last year in November, Anmol Bishnoi was detained by the authorities in the US. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh on him.
Anmol Bishnoi's name also came to surface in the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, who was shot dead in 2022.
NCP leader and Baba Siddique's son Zeeshan Siddique told PTI that he had received an email informing that Anmol Bishnoi had been "removed" from the United States."This means he is not in the United States and should be brought to India and tried for his crimes, " the former MLA added.
Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister, was shot dead on the night of October 12, 2024, in front of his son Zeeshan's office in Bandra.
Several persons related to the gang headed by Lawrence Bishnoi, Anmol's elder brother who is in prison, were arrested in the Siddique murder.
