Bangalore: Twentyone persons, including women and children, died when a truck overturned near Belgaum on Karnataka-Maharashtra border.
They were going to work in a sugar factory in neighbouring Maharashtra.
14 others were injured in the mishap. The labourers were being ferried Sawantwadi ( Maharashtra) from Thanda ( Yadgir) when the truck overturned near Hallaki Cross in Savadatti taluka of Belgaum district early this morning.
Three persons are critical, police said.
They were all daily wages labourers and going to Maharshtra to work in stone quarry and sugar cane factory.
Preliminary report said, the mishap was caused due to reckless driving on part of the truck driver.
