In a first, man from Ahmedabad fined for spitting pan masala at public place

Mahesh Kumar from Ahmedabad's eastern suburb of Naroda, was caught spitting on CCTV near the Sardar Patel Statue Road. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) fined him Rs 100 for doing so.

In a country like India, where the number of pan masala consumers are in millions, a case has been filed against spitting it on road. Moreover, the man in question has been fined Rs 100 for the act. 

Mahesh Kumar from Ahmedabad's eastern suburb of Naroda, was caught spitting on CCTV near the Sardar Patel Statue Road. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) fined him Rs 100 for doing so.  

AMC issued a press release which claims that is the first such case in the country. The release also states that the civic body issued an e-memo for violation of public health laws.

Recently, Ahmedabad was selected as the top city in a national cleanliness survey.

Despite having strict laws and high prices after the GST bill was passed, major number of people in India still consume Pan Masala and tobacco.
