Bhopal:

The Bhopal Police has arrested the 70-year-old owner of a shelter home for disabled kids after inmates alleged sexual assault in the facility. The inmates said that at least two of the fellow children died due to continuous abuse by the owner who is a former armyman.

Over 100 boys and girls are currently staying at the shelter home which has been receiving funds since years.

The victims filed a complaint with the Director of the Social Justice Department of the state government on  Friday. Deputy Inspector General of Police Dharmendra Choudhary confirmed receiving a complaint by the inmates.

Meanwhile, the Opposition Congress in Madhya Pradesh latched onto the issue, alleging that government authorities had ignored a complaint filed in the past against the shelter home's founder who is also its director.

"A girl had complained about sexual harassment by the director to the Hoshangabad collector in February 2017. The complaint was found to be correct but no FIR was registered," party's state media cell chief Shobha Oza alleged.
