Pooja must be started only after performing ablutions.
Begin the pooja by reciting “Om Shri Ganeshya Namah”
Follow this by repeating “Om” thrice. Now take a sip of Ganga jal and invoke the god to purify you by repeating Om Shri Ganeshya Namah thrice and wash hands now the puja can begin.
