Bengaluru: Mother, 9-month-old girl child electrocuted after stepping on live wire, case registered

The incident took place at around 6 am on Sunday when 23-year-old Soundarya and her 9-month-old daughter returned to Bengaluru from Tamil Nadu.

Bengaluru: A 23-year-old woman and her nine-month-old daughter tragically lost their lives after accidentally coming into contact with an unattended live wire on the pavement near Hope Farm in Bengaluru. The incident occurred early on Sunday, said the police.

Around 6 am, the incident unfolded as Soundarya and her nine-month-old daughter, Suviksha, were walking home after their arrival from Tamil Nadu. Sources indicate that their luggage, trolley bag, and personal belongings were lying scattered at the scene.

Case of negligence registered

The Kadugodi police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to the hospital for further procedures. A case of negligence was registered against the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) officials.

In a post on 'X', Member of Parliament from Bengaluru Central P C Mohan said, "The electrocution at Hope farm Junction, where a young woman lost her life, is heartbreaking and highlights the urgency for BESCOM to adopt preventive measures. A heightened sense of responsibility from BESCOM is crucial in averting such incidents and ensuring a safer environment."
