As many as six schools in Gujarat's Ahmedabad received bomb threats through email on Monday (May 6), the police said. The police along with the bomb disposal squad and crime branch teams were checking the schools. The latest incident comes a day ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections in the state where all seats (except Surat where BJP won unopposed) will go to polls on Tuesday. The threat also comes days after nearly 100 schools in Delhi-NCR received bomb threats.

"Some schools in Ahmedabad have received emails threatening bomb blasts. So far, six schools have received such emails and have informed us about it. This seems to be on the lines of bomb threats received by schools in Delhi some days back," DCP cyber crime branch Lavina Sinha said.

"As per our primary investigation, the email's domain is out of India," she said.

The local police, bomb disposal squad and crime branch personnel were checking the schools, the official said.

Polling in 25 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat will be held on Tuesday.

What happened in Delhi bomb threat case?

Several schools in Delhi, Noida on May 1 received bomb threat emails, which created a wide-range panic among the school management, parents and law enforcement authorities. Security teams were rushed to various schools who searched their premises while maintaining calm in the presence of students, however, the threat was later turned out to be a hoax.

According to top sources of the Delhi Police, the Special Cell investigated the mail through CBI with the help of Interpol to identify the person who sent using -- mail.ru -- i.e. (Russia, whose server is in Moscow). A case was registered by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police under the relevant legal provisions for offences like conspiracy and threat and a dedicated team formed to conduct the investigation, an official said.
