Ayushmann Khurrana and Neena Gupta starrer Badhaai Ho has won a lot of appreciation post its release in October last year. The film has already bagged 11 nominations at the coveted Filmfare Awards this year under several categories. Not only it was critically acclaimed, but also had the cash registers ringing at the box office. Badhaai Ho grossed over Rs 200 crore at the box office. After his humongous success, producer Boney Kapoor has planned to make Badhaai in South in four languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
According to a Mumbai Mirror reports, Boney Kapoor has acquired the rights to remake the film about a 25-year-old man whose parents are about to have another baby. Confirming the news, Boney Kapoor told the daily, ‘Yes, I have acquired the rights to all the South languages. It’s a film that resonates with both the masses and classes so I was keen on remaking it. I am yet to decide whether the Tamil or the Telugu version go on the floors first as it’s work in progress.”
Filmmaker Boney Kapoor, who is also remaking Shoojit Sircar’s Pink in South, is confident that Badhaai Ho will be humongously successful down in south as well. He said, “The Hindi version has done extremely well in the heartland, in fact, across the country, and I am confident the reception down South will be as overwhelming.”
Boney Kapoor is also producing Amit Sharma’s next film which has Ajay Devgn in the lead role. It is a biopic based on Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim.
