In an unfortunate twist of fate, Sridevi passed away just before her daughter Jahnvi Kapooor’s big Bollywood debut Dhadak. Shockingly, Boney Kapoor’s first wife Mona Shourie died at the age of 48 in March 25, 2012 ahead of her son Arjun Kapoor’s film debut Ishqzaade, which released on May 2012. Incidentally, Jahnvi’s film Dhadak opposite Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khattar will hit the cinemas this July. Sridevi and Jahnvi shared a special mother-daughter bonding and the duo, often made stylish appearances at several events.
The Chandni actress was quite ecstatic to see her daughter's debut on silver screen.
Sridevi breathed her last in Dubai where she had gone to attend Mohit Marwah and Antara Motiwala’s wedding along with husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi Kapoor. Elder daughter Jahnvi couldn’t be a part of the celebration as she was busy shooting for her debut film.
The news of her demise was confirmed by her brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor.
“Sridevi was not ailing of any major sickness which is why this news is so shocking. She has been fit and hale and hearty for a long time. She suffered a massive cardiac arrest in Dubai where she was on a short break and passed away after doctors could not bring her back. This was something that no one expected”, a source close to the Kapoor family was quoted as saying.
Sridevi was born in the year 1963 to Ayyapan Yanger and Rajeswari Yanger and was named Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan.
The legendary actress is survived by husband Boney Kapoor and two daughters Jahnvi and Khushi.
