Vikrant Massey and Bollywood queen Deepika Padukone have already begun the preparations of their upcoming Bollywood film Chhapaak directed by Meghna Gulzar.

Vikrant Massey shares his experience of working with Deepika Padukone in Chhapaak

Vikrant Massey and Bollywood queen Deepika Padukone have already begun the preparations of their upcoming Bollywood film Chhapaak directed by Meghna Gulzar. The film is based on the real-life acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal and chronicles the story of her hardships and how she tackled with mental and physical suffering. In the film, Vikrant Massey will be seen stepping into the shoes of Laxmi’s boyfriend Alok Dixit who stood by her in all the tough times. 

Speaking to Mid-Day about the life and his character, Vikrant Massey revealed, “Alok has been working with acid attack survivors for a while now and has been through the entire struggle with Laxmi. The fiIm will showcase interesting dynamics between the two.” Talking about working with Deepika, he said, “Working with an actress of her caliber is not just an opportunity but also a huge responsibility. I’m both nervous and excited.” He also added that the film’s story will resonate with the world.

Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey have already dropped the first look of Deepika’s character from the film on the internet and in no time, netizens went berserk. Deepika shared the first look saying, “A character that will stay with me forever...Malti. Shoot begins today! Chhapaak. Releasing January 10, 2020.” In the image, she is seen with prosthetics of scars and burns on her face. Check out the poster here-

Also, Vikrant Massey revealed that his character in the film demanded him to put on weight and he has gained 8 kg. “As the shoot progresses, I will have to load up another three so I have been binging on anything and everything, from sweets and saturated fats to junk food,” he revealed, adding that he has also grown a heavy beard.

After roping in Vikrant for the film, director Meghna Gulzar was all praise for the actor, She Mumbai Mirror, “Vikrant is somebody I’ve wanted to work with since Raazi, after seeing him in A Death in the Gunj. In the film, he plays a North Indian boy who used to be a professional before he decided to become an actor, then, started a campaign against acid violence which is how he came to meet Laxmi in real life. I speak for both Deepika and myself when I say that we are both really excited to have Vikrant play this part.”

On the work front, Vikrant has worked in films Lootera and Dil Dhadakne Do. He earned a lot of praise for his work in Konkana Sen Sharma’s A Death in the Gunj.
