Sanjay Leela Bhansali's most awaited film Padmavat has announced its official release date on Monday. The film which was marred by controversies ever since its announcement, is finally set to hit the silver-screen on Republic weekend with Padman. According to the film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Deepika Padukone-starrer period drama Padmavat is releasing on 25 January 2017, clashing with Akshay Kumar's Padman. Also, the runtime of the film is 2 hours 43 minutes as per the reports. Padmavat has been granted with U/A certificate by the Censor Board. Reports also say that the film will not release in Rajasthan.
The producers of the film, however, said they have no clue about Padmavati release or the possible box-office clash between the two films.
"I am clueless what is happening... with clash. I have no idea about it. Even we have heard about it. All we know is Padman is releasing on January 25. Akshay announced it officially.
"Padmavati is a very important film. It's a beautiful film and it should release soon. I am also looking forward to see it. It depends on Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions to decide on the date," Prerna Arora, one of the producers of Padman, said.
Asked if the makers will push the release date of Padman to avoid any potential box-office clash with the big -budget period drama, Prerna said, "We are coming on January 25."
Sources close to the team of Padman said no one from the team of Padmavati has had any talks about the possible clash.
Padmavati is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period film based on the life and legacy of Rajput queen Rani Padmini. Actress Deepika Padukone is playing the role of Rajput queen while Ranveer Singh essays the evil ruler Alauddin Khilji in this historical saga.
