In the Lok Sabha elections 2019, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena may contest on 24 seats each, said sources on Monday. The saffron party has proposed the formula in front of its Maharashtra ally.

In 2014 LS polls, out of 48 seats, the BJP had fought on 26 seats and won on 24. Shiv Sena had fought on 22 seats and won on 18.

It is pertinent to mention here that the relationship between the two parties is full of hiccups. Sena has continuously attacked the Centre on a number of issues.

Lok Sabha elections 2019 is scheduled to take place in the months of April, May. The general elections will constitute the 17th Lok Sabha.

Legislative Assembly elections in the states of Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim and Jammu and Kashmir are expected to be held simultaneously with the LS polls.
