Soon after airing, the Star Plus reality show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge triggered controversies. After the sacking of its three judges cum mentors, namely Mallika Dua, Zakir Khan and Hussain Dalal, the super judge Akshay Kumar got mired in controversy for passing a sexist remark on his colleague Dua.
While Mallika and his father and a veteran journalist Vinod Dua objected and demanded apology from the actor, everyone was waiting for Twinkle Khanna's response who is known for her straightforwardness. Earlier, Twinkle posted a long note on Twitter backing her husband by saying that humour should be seen in its right context and pleaded to stop tagging her in the ongoing debate. Now, the actress turned author who is known for her witty remarks and unabashed statements returned to her old avatar by sharing two lame jokes. ''What is Akshay Kumar’s favorite car? Bell Gadi. Why did Akshay Kumar to go the mosque? He wanted to hear some duas.'' she shared and wrote in caption- ''I couldn’t resist these two and after this I am done :)''.
The jokes tend to take a dig at the Mallike Dua and Akshay Kumar controversy. They made Dua burst into laughter as she retweeted it.
A small leaked portion of the episode went viral in which Akshay Kumar can be seen saying, ''Mallika ji aap bell bajaaiye, main aapko bajaata hoon''. This irked Mallika and her father by stirring the controversy about sexism.
