New Delhi:

The Indian equity benchmark indices, the Sensex and Nifty, began the session in the green on Thursday, July 10, 2025, following positive global cues, as investors remained unfazed by US President Donald Trump's latest tariff moves. The 30-share BSE Sensex started the session at 83,658.20, with a gain of 122.12 points, and the Nifty added 35.55 points to open at 25,511.65. In the last trading session, the Sensex closed at 83,536.08 and the Nifty 50 at 25,476.10. Similarly, the broader indices started the session in green. While the BSE Midcap was up by 11.94 points or 0.03 per cent in the early trading session, the BSE Smallcap index jumped 145.61 points or 0.27 per cent to trade at 54,950.81.

"We believe the current market structure is non-directional; perhaps traders are waiting for a breakout on either side. For the bulls, the breakout zones for day traders are 25,550/83,800. Above these levels, the market could rise to 25,650-25,725/84,000-84,400. On the other hand, a breakout of 25,400/83,350 could increase the selling pressure. Below these levels, the market may retest the levels of 25,300/83,000. The decline may continue further, possibly taking the market to 25,200-25,175/83,000-82,900," said Shrikant Chouhan, Head Equity Research, Kotak Securities.

From the Sensex firms, Trent, Asian Paints, Maruti, Tata Steel, and Bajaj Finance were among the major gainers, with Trent leading the pack by gaining 0.90 per cent in the early trade. On the other hand, Bajaj Finserv, Tech Mahindra, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and Kotak Bank were among the laggards with Bajaj Finserv losing around 0.0.09 per cent in the opening trade. Shares of TCS traded in the red ahead of the company's quarterly earnings today. Other IT stocks like Infosys and Tech Mahindra slipped in the opening trade.

In early trade, 1,642 stocks in the Nifty pack were trading in the green, while 621 were trading in the red. Seventy-eight stocks remained unchanged.

What did Gift Nifty indicate?
