New Delhi: Walmart has significantly discounted the starting price of the iPhone 5S in order to move inventory out the door before the next iPhone launches later this month. Wamart is now iPhone 5 for $98 with a two year contract with Sprint, Verizon or AT&T.

Apple is planning to unveil its next generation iPhone 5S and low-cost iPhone 5C on September 10, based on a number of rumors from authentic sources

Earlier, the device was available for $128 on-contract. For Android fans, Walmart is also offering Samsung Galaxy S4 at a discounted price of $138 that is $30 less than the price of Galaxy S4 for AT&T.

If in case you don't need the latest. You could get an iPhone 4S for $39, and only 97 cents for a new iPhone 4 on contract. The Samsung Galaxy S3 on Verizon is now also just 97 cents (the AT&T version has been available at that price since last month at Walmart).

Walmart also announced more modest rollbacks of $50 a piece for new iPads.

According to the leaked specs, the iPhone 5S is expected to come with 4-inch 1136 × 640 display and a new 12 megapixel backside camera with dual LED flash. The new handset may come with 2GB of RAM, a quad-core SGX 554MP4 GPU, an A6 CPU and improved LTE. It also has a bigger battery than its predecessor. It is also likely to include an NFC reader and a Fingerprint Reader.

At the same time there are also talks of a budget version of the iPhone 5S. Many have suggested that the budget iPhone (or iPhone Light) could even become a new Apple product line in its own right, stepping out from the established iPhone canon. Rumours suggest that it will feature a 4-inch screen and a plastic chassis - with a design similar to the iPod Touch with speaker grills, a headphone socket and Lightning port at the bottom.
