New Delhi: Recently, Renault's fully owned subsidiary Dacia unveiled a refreshed Duster at the Frankfurt motor show.While retaining the design features that are largely responsible for its success, the facelifted Dsuter now lays stronger emphasis on 4x4 ruggedness. The new Duster takes design cues from the D-Cross concept revealed few months back.On the front, the new Duster gets a redesigned grille with two chrome-plated stripes and a new lower-set air intake. The new model also gets new double-optic headlights with daytime running lights. To add more ruggedness to the vehicle, the automaker has added the new Duster-badged roof bars with slatted supports, new 16-inch 'Anthracite' Metal alloy wheels and "Mud and Snow" tyres.To enhance the further appeal of the car, features like new lights echo at rear, a chrome-plated tailpipe and new "4WD" lettering round out, have been added. The new Dacia Duster now comes with a front parking sensors. To enhance overall driving pleasure, the cabin of Dacia/Renault Duster has been given some refreshing changes. These include: a newly designed dashboard, featuring a centre-mounted console with improved integration. The steering now has some control buttons on it, though the design hasn't changed. The biggest change is of course a touch screen multi-media unit, which is likely to make it to the Indian version. Renault claims that boot space on the Duster facelift has increased by 475 litres, along with improvement in the cabin soundproofing.The vehicle also sports a range of safety accessories including a fire extinguisher kit, an anti-theft system, snow chains and a child seat. It now gets a DaciaMedia Nav, a complete multimedia system including Bluetooth connectivity and SAT NAV. Additionally, the vehicle also has Dacia Plug& Radio, which comprises a radio, an MP3-compatible CD player, Bluetooth connectivity and integrated jack and USB sockets.Other interesting features that enhance the distinctive characteristic of the new Duster are cruise control, speed limiter, rear parking sensors, automatic door locking, and an exterior temperature display. The electric window controls are equipped with one-touch mode on the driver's side.In terms of safety, the new Duster, includes Electronic stability control, emergency brake assist, anti-lock braking system. The passive safety measures are front and driver airbags, as well as side head-and-chest airbags.It will be interesting to see how the facelifted Duster appeal to the discerning Indian consumers. So far Duster has enjoyed great success in India due to its macho looks, affordable price point, ride quality and great mileage.
