Coimbatore, Oct 26: Bajaj Auto will come out with the most expensive and technologically advanced bike in the 100 cc segment in January, a top company official said.
"Besides being the most expensive motorcycle in the 100CC segment, it will also be technologically most advanced bike," Bajaj Auto President (Motorcycle Business) K Srinivas said.
However, he refused to reveal the price tag, saying the price is not the news, but technologically most advanced is.
Currently, Bajaj Auto sells 100cc bikes under the Platina and Discover range, which are priced between Rs 38,990-44,497.
The company had claimed in September that its Discover model had overtaken Hero MotoCorp's Splendour as the world's largest selling motorcycle, with sales of 1.22 lakh against Splendour's 1.21 lakh.
On Bajaj's performance, Srinivas said the company has registered an increase in growth despite a minus one per growth in the industry. In the second quarter of the current fiscal, its market share stood at 27 per cent.
It was also encouraging to note that sales had grown by six per cent in the last seven days being the festive season, a good sign as far as the entire industry was concerned, he said.
