New Delhi: Toyota has finally revealed the redesigned Toyota Corolla 2014 version and as per reports the company will unveil the new Corolla model at the Indian Auto Expo 2014. The most recent iteration in the Corolla line is indeed a looker and does seem to stray away from conventional Toyota models.The 2014 Corolla is exciting, stylish and sophisticated. The new Corolla is actually a whole lot nicer than its predecessor. The first thing that strikes you the most about the new Corolla is how it looks – it's handsome, even in base trim. In the new model, the company has tried to address the long reported criticism of “lack of dynamism” through a new design language that reflects its style and class. The front fascia looks dynamic as the model sports a sleek trapezoidal grill, angular headlamps, and bold air intake in the front bumper. The model comes with an appealing windows line. The new Toyota Corolla has also been made larger from all dimensions in terms of length, width and wheelbase while the height of the car has been reduced. The 2014 model is 99 mm longer than the previous generation, its wheelbase is up by 100 mm, and it sits 16 mm wider and 10 mm lower to the ground.On the inside, the 2014 Toyota Corolla gets dual tone colour combination along with piano-black gloss trim and metallic ornamentation trim. The centre console enhances the spaciousness of the cabin. Due to more cabin space, the 2014 model offers more legroom. Aside from pushing the rear seat hip point back, Toyota also came up with slimmer front seat backs, which means that you get more space in the rear. In addition, the boot has been expanded to 16 cubic feet (452 liters), so you're not that far off from a 2014 Mercedes S-Class.The model also offers enhanced cabin comfort by using NVH lowering measures such as an acoustic glass windscreen, improved floor carpet insulation, an instrument panel seal between the cowl and the windshield, a fender sound insulator and an inner dash silencer pad to provide a quieter ride.The Corolla maintains the familiar MacPherson strut suspension in front and solid torsion-beam setup out back. The 2014 Corollas are powered by a 1.8-liter inline four-cylinder engine, mated to either the four-speed slushbox, six-speed manual (L and S Plus trims) or new continuously variable transmission that Toyota calls CVTi-S. This CVT comes with seven programmed "shift points" which you can use through a steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters on S models. The L, LE, and S trims use a version of the 1.8-liter engine which deliver 132 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 128 pound-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm. The Eco model produces 140 hp at 6,100 rpm and 126 lb-ft of twist at 4,000 rpm.On the infotainment front, Toyota offers its Entune suite of apps – including optional navigation – housed inside a 6.1-inch touchscreen.In terms of safety, the model comes with crumple zones, airbags, three point seat belts and a host of brake assistance features such as Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control System (TCS), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA).Toyota will be introducing the 2014 Corolla in four variants, namely, L, LE, S, and the new LE Eco. All models will come with the company's 1.8 litre petrol engine. The Corolla lineup's mainstay model will be LE, starting at $18,300. Further, an LE Eco model that features different engine tuning starts at $18,700. The range-topping S commands $19,000 and a fully loaded S Premium with optional goodies like a sunroof and navigation tops out just under $24,000.
