Manchester United has undergone a resurgence under new interim coach Michael Carrick. After Ruben Amorim’s sacking, Carrick has propelled United to wins against Manchester City and now Arsenal as well. The arch-rivals locked horns in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on January 25.

The clash began with Lisandro Martinez scoring an own goal in the 29th minute, giving Arsenal the lead. However, Bryan Mbeumo levelled the scoring in the 37th minute. In the second half, United capitalised as Patrick Dorgu doubled the lead with a stunning goal in the 50th minute.

Arsenal once again equalised in the 84th minute through a corner. Mikel Merino scored the equaliser, and when the game looked done and dusted, Matheus Cunha scored a worldie to give United the lead again as the side won the game 2-3.

Michael Carrick gives his take on the win

After the game, Manchester United coach Michael Carrick took centre stage and advised his side to stay grounded and stay consistent. He reflected on how he is already focused on the next game and how he can get the best out of the side in the upcoming clash.

“I think it’s more about the feeling that this gives us, really, as a group. And the players and as a club, and certainly the supporters. That’s my concern - how that can bring us together and lift us, in a real positive manner. I’m not getting all carried away, we’ve got some bigger games coming up, because the next game is always the bigger game," Michael Carrick was quoted as saying by Firstpost.

“So we’re not getting carried away. We’ve got really important things coming up and we need to keep improving. Two massive games, there’s a lot of emotion, a lot of energy and a lot of confidence that you can take but we’ve got to be humble and understand how we’ve got these results. That’s really important moving forward,” he added.
