Kolhapur Zilla Parishad, Panchayat Samiti Poll Results 2026: Mahayuti alliance emerges victorious

In a significant development, the Mahayuti alliance emerged victorious in the Kolhapur Zilla Parishad polls with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) winning 19 seats, the BJP 10 and the Shiv Sena eight, while the Congress secured 15 seats. It should be noted that in Kolhapur, both factions of the NCP had contested the elections together.

As per the TV reports, the BJP is taking massive lead in 200 out of 731 seats. The Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena was reportedly ahead in 137 Zilla Parishad seats. No official confirmation has come from the state election commissioner and counting remains underway in some areas.

The Mahayuti alliance is emerging as victorious in the Kolhapur Zilla Parishad polls, with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) winning 19 seats, the BJP 10 and the Shiv Sena eight, while the Congress suffered a setback, securing 15 seats.

In Kolhapur, Shiv Sena contested 25 seats, winning 12 of them. The BJP has taken the lead in 12 seats. The remaining results are expected soon. Results are still awaited in some constituencies, but the results so far clearly show the dominance of Shiv Sena and BJP in several districts.

The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is closer to securing the Kolhapur Zilla Parishad election. The BJP has already secured 12 out of 68 seats while the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena has secured only seven. The NCP has got 18 seats while the Congress has 13 in the area.

In the Kolhapur Zilla Parishad elections, the NCP is leading in 15 seats, while the Congress and the BJP are tied, each leading in 13 seats.

Latest trends from the Panchayat Samiti election results show varied leads across districts in western Maharashtra and the Konkan region. In Pune district, the Nationalist Congress Party is leading in the Panchayat Samitis of Baramati, Indapur, Ambegaon, Shirur, Haveli, Daund and Bhor, indicating a strong showing across much of the district. In Satara district, the Bharatiya Janata Party has taken the lead in the Khatav, Man and Satara Panchayat Samitis. The NCP, meanwhile, is ahead in the Phaltan and Wai Panchayat Samitis.

In Ratnagiri district, the Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is leading in the Panchayat Samitis of Ratnagiri, Sangmeshwar, Chiplun, Dapoli, Lanja and Rajapur, giving the party a clear edge in the district.

Kolhapur is set to face a neck and neck battle as several political parties are in fray. The picture will be clear by noon, with voting set to begin at 10 pm. Counting in Kolhapur will happen across all 67 Zilla Parishad seats and 134 seats across 12 Panchayat Samitis.

A total of 7,438 candidates were in the fray for 731 Zilla Parishad seats and 1,462 Panchayat Samiti seats, with more than 2 crore eligible voters. The electorate comprised 1,06,33,269 men, 1,01,86,965 women and 468 voters from other categories. As many as 25,471 polling stations were established, and around 1.28 lakh personnel were deployed on election duty.

The State Election Commission (SEC) on Sunday reported a voter turnout of 68.28 per cent in the elections held this week for 12 Zilla Parishads and 125 Panchayat Samitis across Maharashtra. Parbhani district recorded the highest participation, with 74.89 per cent of voters casting their ballots, while Ratnagiri saw the lowest turnout at 55.79 per cent.

Authorities have initiated action against Zilla Parishad poll contestant Arjun Sinh Mohite Patil, who allegedly took his minor son to cast his vote inside a polling booth, the presiding officer and police personnel, an official said on Sunday. A viral video shows the 14-year-old boy, accompanied by his father, allegedly casting a vote in the Zilla Parishad elections in Maharashtra's Solapur district.

Security has been beefed up across several districts in Maharashtra ahead of the Zilla Parishad, Panchayat Samiti vote counting. The polling took place on February 7. 

The political landscape has changed significantly this time following the split within the Shiv Sena and the NCP. In 2017, the united NCP contested in alliance with the Congress and the Peasants and Workers Party of India (PWP). The BJP contested in alliance with the united Shiv Sena. 

Elections were conducted in 12 districts across three divisions—Konkan, Pune, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The districts where polling took place include Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Kolhapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Parbhani, Dharashiv, and Latur.

There are 12 Panchayat Samitis in Kolhapur. They are Shahuwadi, Panhala, Hatkanangale, Shirol, Kagal, Karvir, Gaganbawda, Radhanagari, Bhudargad, Ajara, Gadhinglaj and Chandgad.

Kolhapur is one of the key districts where voting took place. It falls under the Pune division and has 67 Zilla Parishad seats. Besides, there are 134 seats across 12 Panchayat Samitis in the district. 

Kolhapur witnessed 76.98 per cent voting in 2017.
