The political atmosphere in Vikarabad district is heating up as counting of votes for the 2026 Municipal Corporation and Municipalities Elections is underway in the region. The elections to seven Municipal Corporations and 116 Municipalities were conducted across Telangana on February 11 and saw an enthusiastic voter turnout across both urban and semi-urban pockets. Vikarabad district consists of four municipalities including Kodangal (12 wards), Parigiri (18 wards), Tandur (36 wards) and Vikarabad (34 wards). The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Communist Party of India (CPI), AND Communist Party of India (Marxist) are the main parties in Vikarabad district. With all major political forces contested fiercely, the outcome is expected to set the tone for local governance and grassroots politics ahead of the 2028 Assembly polls.

Vikarabad Municipality: Demographic profile
Vikarabad district, carved out in 2016, has a diverse population comprised of agrarian communities, Scheduled Tribes, minority voters and fast-growing urban middle-class clusters. Agriculture, granite industries and small-scale manufacturing form the economic base, while the younger demographic is increasingly leaning towards urban-based employment and entrepreneurship.
