Pakistan had been informed about random dope tests after each match but no player had so far been subjected to any such examination in the ongoing Asia Cup in Dambulla in Sri Lanka, team manager Yawar Saeed said on Friday.
"The teams had been told their would be random dope tests after each match. But none of our players were called up after the game against Sri Lanka (on June 15)," Saeed said.
Pakistani pace bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif, who have a history of doping offences, are expected to be picked for the random tests but Saeed said he was not concerned.
"All our players have been educated about what medicines or substances to avoid and also briefed about the new ICC anti-doping regulations. So we are not worried as far as we know all our players are adhering to a zero tolerance anti-doping policy," he said.
The media manager of the Asian Cricket Council, Shahriar Khan said players had been picked for random tests but so far they were no dope positive results.
"I don't know which players were picked but so far everything is okay," he said.
Saeed said his players were not concerned about the dope tests as they were preparing hard for tomorrow's match against India.
"It is a big match for the players and they are geared up for the contest," he said.
"Shahid Afridi is fine and has recovered from his cramp problem which he faced in the match against Sri Lanka," the manager said. PTI
