Canada shooting spree: At least five, including 3 children killed in Ontario City in past 24 hours

According to Canada Police, it has recovered the bodies of a six-year-old and a 12-year-old, who, they claimed, were also shot and killed. Besides, it also found a 44-year-old dead, from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot.

Amid soaring crime in Canada, at least five people, including three children, were found dead in a shooting in a northern Ontario city in Canada on Monday, CBC News reported.  According to Sault Ste. Marie Police, they were investigating the crime scene, wherein at least five people were found dead at two homes.

Police said they responded to a 911 call at 10.20 pm (local time) and found a 41-year-old dead of a gunshot wound at the 200 block of Tancred Street, according to CBC News. About ten minutes later, the police officers responded to the second call, finding a 45-year-old with a gunshot wound.

The investigators said they also recovered the bodies of a six-year-old and a 12-year-old, who, they claimed, were also shot and killed. Further, the officers informed that they also found a 44-year-old dead, from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot, CBC News reported. 

The police added that both these deaths were connected and were the result of intimate partner violence. "Our community is once again faced with the tragic and unnecessary loss of life," Sault Ste. Marie police Chief Hugh Stevenson said in a release. "The grief the families, friends and loved ones of the victims are facing is unimaginable. Our hearts go out to them. As our community grieves this tragedy, I urge everyone to please watch out for each other. If you are struggling, or if you see someone you know struggling, please make use of the mental health supports available in our community," he added.

Last month, two men died and six others suffered injuries in a shooting at a wedding reception in Ottawa, CBC News, Canada reported. The victims were attending the reception at the Infinity Convention Centre on the 2900 block of Gibford Drive, off Hunt Club Road near the Ottawa International Airport, the report stated.

Earlier on several occasions, India raised grave concerns over soaring crimes in Ottawa, especially organised crimes like murder, robbery, sexual and extremism.
