Thane (Maha): A five-year old girl died and three members of her family, including a nine-month old baby, were injured when a part of the ceiling of their flat fell in Kausa-Mumbra near here, the Disaster Control Room said.
"A portion of the first floor flat collapsed at around 4 PM, as a result of which four members of the family living there were injured. They were admitted to Kalsekar Hospital at Mumbra where five-year old girl Shifa Bano Mohamad Esaq died during treatment, while three others are still being treated," Santosh Kadam, Disaster Control Room officer, told PTI.
The incident took place in Zeenat Apartment in Rashid compound, a four-storeyed building about 20 years old, he said.
The injured have been identified as Shebia Bano Shaikh (30), Samrin Bano Shaikh (3) and a nine-month old Sidhra Bano Shaikh.
After the incident, the municipal corporation immediately evacuated the building.
