India successfully test-fired the Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile Agni-3 from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha on Friday. The launch validated all operational and technical parameters of the missile and was conducted under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command.
The Agni 3 missile has an approximate range of 3,000 to 3,500 kilometers and is a key component of India’s strategic deterrence capability.

India's Agni-3 is a nuclear-armed ballistic missile of intermediate range that can strike a target as far as 3-3,500 kilometres. The missile provides the Indian military with the ability to hit strategic targets deep inside the enemy's territory. Defence officials said the successful test reaffirmed the reliability and readiness of the missile system.
While the other Agni missiles, including their upgraded variants, have been test-fired recently. The Agni-3 missile boasts of strategic importance as a proven pillar of India’s deterrence capability.
The missile is a two stage, solid fuel powered system. Once the first stage completes its burn, the second stage ignites, pushing the missile further along its trajectory towards the designated target and ensuring stability and accuracy.
The successful test strengthens India’s growing portfolio of validated strategic missile systems and highlights the country’s continued emphasis on maintaining a credible minimum deterrent.
