New Delhi:

A 21-year-old CPI(M) worker was stabbed to death in Kasaragod district late on Sunday night. The victim, identified as Aboobacker Sidique, was attacked by a bike-borne gang, allegedly by BJP-RSS men at Manjeswaram in Kasaragod district while he was returning home in Songal village under Manjeswaram police limits, at 11 pm.

Sidique succumbed to his injuries after the incident, while the locals had rushed him to a hospital in Mangalore.

CPI(M) party called for a hartal in Manjeswaram and alleged RSS-BJP men behind the killing.

A strong contingent of police was deployed in the region, bordering Karnataka, in the wake of the killing, said police.
