Based in the heartland of Chambal valley, Son Chiriya features an ensemble of actors such as Sushant Singh Rajput, Bhumi Pednekar, Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey and Ashutosh Rana. It's not a modern age romantic saga or a period intense love story, it's a story of dacoity. The film, which is all set to release on March 1, has landed in legal trouble. A Gwalior-based NGO, that goes by the name of Shiksha Mitr Foundation, has slapped a legal notice alleging that Chambal, a small town in Madhya Pradesh, has been shown in a bad light in the crime-action film and that it has hurt the sentiments of its citizens.
Sonchiriya team had released a video of Chambal tourism. All the three actors have seen endorsing Chambal tourism and dare you to visit Chambal asking "Aake Toh Dikhao!"
Earlier while shooting for the film in Chambal, Sushant had told IANS, "Shooting for Abhishek Chaubey’s film is on full swing. I came here in Chambal early to do a bit of warm-up for the film. Visiting ravines, talking to locals, working on dialect and inflection and a bit of cut-off from everything before the shoot helps keep the right things in perspective."
Sonchiriya is directed by Abhishek Chaubey, who is known for helming films like Udta Punjab, Ishsiqiya and Dedh Ishqiya and is produced by Ronnie Screwvala. It is scheduled to release on March 8.
