Three killed after fire breaks out in residential building in Delhi's Krishna Nagar

A total of five fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Delhi fire: At least three people were killed after a massive fire broke out at a residential building in Delhi's Krishna Nagar area on Sunday morning. The fire department received a call about the fire around 2:30 am, following which five fire tenders were sent to the spot, the officials said.

According to the fire officials, a total of 13 people were rescued but three were declared dead. "We received a call of fire at 2.35 am from Krishna Nagar. The fire was doused at 7.20 am. A total of five fire tenders were rushed to the spot. A total of 13 people were rescued but three were declared dead," Delhi Fire Services (DFS) chief Atul Garg said.

Officials said that the charred remains of a 66-year-old woman, Parmila Shad, were discovered on the first floor of the building. Additionally, two individuals, identified as 18-year-old Keshav Sharma and 34-year-old Anju Sharma, were declared brought dead by the doctors.

Fire broke out in the parking lot

Garg said the fire began in 11 two-wheelers in the stilt parking of the house and spread on the first floor. The building comprises ground (stilt) plus four floors. Officials said the second, third and fourth floors were affected by heat and smoke.

Five fire tenders were rushed to the spot, he said, adding 11 vehicles at the spot were reduced to ashes.

This is the second major fire incident in the city in as many days.

Seven newborns dead in fire at baby care centre

Meanwhile, another massive massive fire broke out at a New Born Baby Care Hospital in the Vivek Vihar area of the national capital on Saturday (May 25) night, said police. At least seven newborns died after being rescued from the spot. 

On information, police officials and firefighters reached the area and doused the fire. As per a fire officer, the fire was extinguished completely, and a total of 12 children were rescued, out of which seven died and five others were admitted to the hospital.

The rescued newborns have been shifted to East Delhi Advance NICU hospital.
