New Delhi, Dec 13: Hyundai Eon has been a winner ever since it was launched in India back in October 2011. Now the South Korean car maker has launched its made-for-India Eon in Chile.
The Eon will become the base model in an extensive line-up that the Korean manufacturer already offers in the South American nation. The company says it will launch more models in the Chilean markets in the coming year.
The company will launch the Eon car in reportedly two variants. The base model has been fitted with driver's side airbag, body coloured bumpers, fog lamps, alarm, CD player, imobiliser and a rear spoiler. The high-end variant will come with an AC, power windows and central locking as additional features.
The car will sport the 800cc petrol engine (same as India), which produces 55bhp and 68Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. The base model will cost Chiean users 4190000 Pesos (Rs 4.7 lakh) and the top-end model will come with a price tag of 4790000 Chilean Pesos (Rs 5.4 lakh).
In the Indian market the car has been positioned against Maruti's Alto, the highest selling car in the market. The company believes the car could garner handsome market share due to its styling, mileage (21.1 kmpl) and space.
Hyundai EON is the smallest and cheapest hatchback by Hyundai in its entire range worldwide.
In total, Hyundai offers customers to choose from six different models: Eon D Lite, Eon Optional, Eon Era, Eon Magna, Eon Magna Optional and Eon Sportz.
