New Delhi: A squadron of 1,700 private jets are expected to fly Billionaires, world leaders and celebrities to the four-day conference annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland – to discuss things such as terrorism, the central banks and growing economic inequality, and climate change.

Most of the incoming private jets can be accommodated by the Zurich airport; however, a new landing zone has been opened up via the Duebendorf military base, near Zurich, which can house 40 private jets and is a one-hour helicopter ride from picturesque Davos.

Due to the sheer numbers, the resulting airport traffic will increase by 10 per cent.

Some guests pay $US71,000 or more to attend the conference, which is said to be the ultimate networking event where top business deals get done.

Attendees include Bill Gates, Google's Eric Schmidt, Alibaba founder Jack Ma, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg and Yahoo, CEO Marissa Mayer as well as about 40 world leaders.
