CAIRO (AP) — Amnesty International is urging the Sudanese government to halt what it describes as "relentless harassment, intimidation and censorship of journalists."

The rights group released a report early on Friday that documents the arrest of at least 15 journalists by state security forces between January and October. Amnesty says Sudanese authorities are seeking to silence independent media.

Amnesty's Sarah Jackson says the government this year has been "unrelenting in its crackdown on press freedom by attacking journalists and media organizations."

President Omar al-Bashir, who has ruled Sudan for decades, is wanted by the International Criminal Court for genocide charges linked to the conflict in Darfur dating back to 2003.
