Sukhendu Shekhar Roy, deputy leader of Trinamool in Rajya Sabha said, Mamata Banerjee is herself offering the third alternative in the Lok Sabha elections, and Aam Aadmi Party has "no relevance" in the context of West Bengal politics.
Another Trinamool Congress leader Saugata Roy said, AAP may have given a good performance in Delhi, but in Bengal the party is almost non-existent.
Mamata Banerjee has set a target of 36 out of 42 Lok Sabha seats from Bengal, to emerge as a serious contender in the national sweepstakes.
CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat has praised AAP saying it has got the votes of the middle class and of the poor in Delhi, as the people found in it an alternative.
But the Marxist leader has asked AAP to make its stand clear on the new liberal economic policy, which the CPI(M) considers the main source of corruption.
