"A parallel government is running in a large area controlled by Maoists", the Prime Minister said.
Dr Singh claimed that the UPA government in its nine years of rule has generated more electricity than was produced since Independence till 2004.
"Our UPA government constructed more than 17,000 km highways, and more than 2 lakh kilometres roads in rural areas", he added.
