Big rhetoric can't bring BJP to power: PM tells Raipur rally

Raipur : Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today lashed out at the BJP saying that big rhetoric from its leaders (read Narendra Modi) cannot bring the party to power. Addressing a rally at Raipur Indoor

The Prime Minister said, it was the UPA government at the Centre which has given Raipur an AIIMS and an IIT.  "We set up nine new IITs, six AIIMS and seven new IIMs in India. We gave large amounts of assistance to Chhattisgarh, but the BJP government was unable to utilize the money".

Dr Singh alleged that the BJP was misleading people by instigating communalism and giving new definitions of secularism. "Some of their leaders are also trying to change history and geography", he added.

Describing the Maoist attack on Congress leaders in Jeeram Ghati as "an assault on Indian democracy", Dr Singh said, such attacks cannot lower the morale of the people. "The government in Chhattisgarh was reponsible for their security, and it failed to prove them security", he added.
