A telecommunications building in the United Arab Emirates was struck today by an Iranian ballistic missile, injuring two people, authorities said. The missile hit an administrative building for the Thuraya Telecommunications Company in Sharjah, the medical office said.

The powerful Iran-backed Iraqi militia Kataib Hezbollah said in a statement on Tuesday that it will release American journalist Shelly Kittleson, who was kidnapped from a Baghdad street corner last week. The group said its decision came "in appreciation of the patriotic stances of the outgoing prime minister," Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, without giving more details. It added that "this initiative will not be repeated in the future." Kataib Hezbollah had not previously acknowledged that it was the one responsible for Kittleson's abduction, although both US and Iraqi officials had pointed fingers at the group.

Russia and China vetoed a UN Security Council resolution on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime chokepoint through which a fifth of the global oil passes, blockaded by Iran. The 15-nation UN Security Council voted on the resolution proposed by Bahrain, which got 11 votes in favour, two against and two abstentions. The resolution could not be adopted because veto-wielding permanent members Russia and China voted against the resolution.

The White House on Tuesday denied reports that it is considering the use of nuclear weapons against Iran, amid escalating tensions in the region. The clarification came just hours after US President Donald Trump issued a stark warning, claiming that "a whole civilisation will die" if Iran fails to reopen the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz by the deadline set for Tuesday.

Citizens in the city of Ilam formed a human chain on Tuesday to demonstrate their defiance against recent threats from US President Donald Trump. According to the Iranian news agency, Tasnim, the public gathering was organised specifically to condemn the American administration's warnings of potential strikes on Iran's critical infrastructure, including bridges and power plants.

US President Donald Trump has warned that a "whole civilisation will die tonight" but said Iran still has time to capitulate ahead of a deadline set for 8 pm in Washington. The American leader issued the stark threat Tuesday, about 12 hours ahead of his deadline for Iran to agree to a deal that includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz or face punishing strikes. Trump wrote on his social media site: "A whole civilisation will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don't want that to happen, but it probably will." 

Iranian authorities said that a series of airstrikes were carried out at the following places today:

• A railway bridge in Kashan
• A train station in Mashhad
• A highway bridge near Tabriz on Tabriz-Tehran freeway

However, neither the United States nor Israel immediately claimed the attacks, as per The AP.

Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard warned today that it would “deprive the US and its allies of the region’s oil and gas for years” if President Donald Trump carries out his threat to attack power plants and bridges if the Strait of Hormuz doesn’t open. It also issued a new threat to the Gulf Arab states. "We have exercised great restraint and had considerations in choosing retaliatory targets, but from now on all these considerations have been removed," the warning read, as per The AP. 

Iran's key oil export hub, Kharg Island, has reportedly been targeted by multiple strikes, according to Iranian media outlet Mehr News. Iran's Kharg Island hosts the country's main crude export terminal and is responsible for the overwhelming majority of its oil shipments to the world, about 30 kilometres south of the mainland in the north of the Gulf.

The reported attack is part of a broader wave of coordinated US Israeli strikes across Iran, which have hit multiple military and strategic sites in recent days.

Iran's envoy to pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam said on Tuesday that efforts to end the war in the Middle East have entered a “critical and sensitive” stage.

Israel Defense Forces on Tuesday issued a fresh warning to civilians in Iran, urging them to avoid travelling by train until 9 pm local time amid ongoing strikes.

The advisory, delivered in Farsi via a post on X, cautioned that using trains or being near railway lines could put lives at risk. The military said that “your presence puts your life at risk,” as tensions continue to escalate in the region.

Traffic on the King Fahd Causeway, a vital link connecting Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, has been suspended following threats of Iranian air raids.

Pete Hegseth issued a strong warning to Iran, saying the United States was set to carry out the largest volume of strikes since the start of “Operation Fury.”

Speaking to reporters at the White House on Monday, Hegseth said the action was being taken under the direction of Donald Trump. He warned that the scale of strikes could increase further if Iran does not agree to a deal to end the conflict.

He urged Tehran to “choose wisely,” adding that Trump is serious about his stance and prepared to escalate military action if necessary.

US President Donald Trump said Monday he's "not at all" concerned about committing possible war crimes as he again threatened to destroy Iran's bridges and power plants if Tehran does not meet his Tuesday 8 pm ET deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran on Monday rejected a 45-day ceasefire proposal and said it wants a permanent end to the conflict.

The Iranian army says four of its officers were killed in the central Isfahan province yesterday during an operation to counter invading US aircraft.

In a statement carried by the Fars news agency, the army said the officers engaged in “direct combat with enemy fighter jets, helicopters, armed drones and support aircraft” in the Mahyar area of Isfahan before they were hit.

Iran’s deputy minister of youth and sports, Alireza Rahimi, has called on citizens, including young people, artists and athletes, to form human chains around power plants across Iran at 2.00 pm local time tomorrow. The appeal is intended as a protest against US threats to target such facilities.

In a social media post, he said the demonstration would send a clear message that attacks on public infrastructure constitute a war crime, urging people to stand together in solidarity.
